I am happy to reveal that the second Spider Baby will be played by Hilah Johnson. Hilah is the frontwoman for The Hot as Shits and one of the founding members of the Austin comedy group Big Ol’ Tire Fire. She’s taller than you, funnier than you and she can drink you under the table.

Jason Liebrecht is Johnny

We are happy to announce that we have cast Jason Liebrecht as Johnny, the male lead in THE SPIDER BABIES. We were lucky enough to have several very talented actors audition for this role, but Jason absolutely crushed it and I’m really excited to work with him on this project. Also, he is a new father as of last week, so he will have a good movie to show to the boy in a few years.

Austin Auditions November 5-6

Rockhouse Pictures is conducting an open casting call that day for a new horror-action motion picture, THE SPIDER BABIES. This marks the second motion picture for the company, which in 2006 produced the award-winning horror film, SEX MACHINE.

THE SPIDER BABIES is the story of a three-girl punk rock band stranded in the middle of nowhere, USA after a mysterious post-apocalyptic event. They'll need gas, food and guns if they're going to make it out alive.

Auditions will be held:

Wednesday November 5th - Noon to 6 p.m.
Thursday November 6th - Noon to 6 p.m.
Dougherty Arts Center
Conference Room B
1110 Barton Springs Road
Austin, TX, 78704.

All of the roles will be physically demanding, requiring running, fighting and the like.

This is a non-SAG feature, but all performers will be paid a realistic day rate. Meals will be provided.

ETHEL, (female, 20's) the lead singer for a punk-rock band, a blonde bombshell who’s not as ditzy as she might seem (partial nudity required)

POLLY, (female, 20's) the guitarist for a punk-rock band, a diminutive collegiate type about to start at Harvard Law School.

JOHNNY, (male, late 20's) a tall and lean post-punk cowboy.

BART, (male, 40's-50's) a redneck tow-truck driver (partial nudity required).

ELI, (20's) a friendly, easy-going hippie pot-dealer.

Additionally, we are looking for:

CREATURE PERFORMERS - We need several physically talented performers for some very demanding, but non-speaking roles. A background in dance, mime or similar field would be perfect.
